Where it all started

The origin of Mitsubishi dates to 1870 when the founder, Yataro Iwasaki, started a shipping firm with three ageing steamships. Yataro’s brother, son and nephew expanded the business into various fields during their respective terms as president and set the foundation for the Mitsubishi companies.

Founded by Yatarō Iwasaki in 1870, the Mitsubishi Group historically descended from the Mitsubishi Zaibatsu, a unified company that existed from 1870 to 1946. The company was disbanded during the occupation of Japan following World War II. The former constituents of the company continue to share the Mitsubishi brand and trademark. Although the group companies participate in limited business cooperation, most famously through monthly “Friday Conference” executive meetings, they are formally independent and are not under common control. The four main companies in the group are MUFG Bank (the largest bank in Japan), Mitsubishi Corporation (a general trading company), Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (both diversified manufacturing companies).

He was inspired by a friend to join the motor industry in 2014. Nathi has worked with many different motor brands and has gained a lot of experience. He started at CMH as a Sales Executive and through hard work, dedication, and a passion for what he does he is now Dealer Principle. His dedication to the trade has won him many awards over the years. Nathi is inspired by his beautiful family, his mom, fiancé and two gorgeous daughters. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is Mitsubishi’s offering in South Africa’s fiercely competitive SUV market. With the launch of Eclipse Cross, many of its features have been tweaked, and performance has been improved. Eclipse Cross is priced at R459 995 and comes with a lot of features. A 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine produces 110kw at 5500 r/min and 250N of torque. Thanks to its comfortable suspension, it never feels like it’s working too hard when you put your foot down. The interior features Bluetooth, USB ports, a multi-function steering wheel, paddle shifters, electrically adjustable leather seats (heated for both the driver and front passenger) and charging ports. All very modern and the cabin feels more luxurious than its predecessor thanks to a better-looking touch screen display and head-up display. Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2.4 DI-D 4×4

The Pajero has very unassuming styling almost to the point of being bland as such it blends in seamlessly with its 7-seater brethren. There are a few standouts such as the chrome grille, LED lighting front, rear, and stylish 18” wheels that give it 218 mm of ground clearance but overall, there is nothing very special on the outside. This is most likely why consumers tend to head towards the more well-known brands. Although it has the dimensions of a large seven-seater SUV, it behaves more like a sport sedan. The steering is on point, easy in tight parking lots but firming up when you hit the highway thus ensuring a direct feel. The power delivery is the most impressive, it’s linear with the gear ratios, this ensures the engine never sounds like it’s over-revving, even when you are towing 2.7 ton’s unbraked or 750kg braked, 2.4 litres in-line four, turbo diesel engine, pumping out 133kW and 430Nm. That power is sent through an 8-speed auto transmission and the Super Select II AWD system. As far as technology is concerned there is a 7” touchscreen infotainment featuring Apple Car Play and Android Auto controlled by a multi-function steering wheel that is height and reach adjustable as well as the standard Bluetooth and voice control for telephony.

Interior space is cavernous with legroom and space for five adults as well as their entire luggage with the third row down. Put the third row up and your luggage space decreases to 131l and it must be said that the third-row seating is only usable by children or persons of smaller stature.
