It has a peak torque of 430 Nm at 2500 rpm and a power output of 133 kW at 3500 rpm. The 2022 Mitsubishi Triton GLS low-end grunt provides excellent performance and load capacity, including a braked towing capability of 3100 kg.

It’s also quite quiet, due to the lightweight materials used in the vehicle’s design and construction, yet it may be loud while accelerating. Overall, the Mitsubishi Triton’s engine delivers an outstanding blend of horsepower and efficiency.

Transmission

The manual or automatic six-speed gearbox is available for the 2022 Mitsubishi Triton GLS. We opted with a manual one since it is more dependable. Its light clutch and short-throw gear lever deliver accurate and quick changes, making long trips a breeze.

The automatic transmission, on the other hand, isn’t a problem at all. It appears to have optimised top gear ratios, resulting in a quiet engine with excellent fuel economy at high speeds.

The automatic 2022 Mitsubishi Triton GLS also includes a Manual Shift mode, which provides manual-like control. With the flip of a lever, you can change speeds.

Drivetrain

Where it all started

The origin of Mitsubishi dates to 1870 when the founder, Yataro Iwasaki, started a shipping firm with three ageing steamships. Yataro’s brother, son and nephew expanded the business into various fields during their respective terms as president and set the foundation for the Mitsubishi companies.

1870’s

Founded by Yatarō Iwasaki in 1870, the Mitsubishi Group historically descended from the Mitsubishi Zaibatsu, a unified company that existed from 1870 to 1946. The company was disbanded during the occupation of Japan following World War II. The former constituents of the company continue to share the Mitsubishi brand and trademark. Although the group companies participate in limited business cooperation, most famously through monthly “Friday Conference” executive meetings, they are formally independent and are not under common control. The four main companies in the group are MUFG Bank (the largest bank in Japan), Mitsubishi Corporation (a general trading company), Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (both diversified manufacturing companies).

A 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine produces 110kw at 5500 r/min and 250N of torque. Thanks to its comfortable suspension, it never feels like it’s working too hard when you put your foot down. The interior features Bluetooth, USB ports, a multi-function steering wheel, paddle shifters, electrically adjustable leather seats (heated for both the driver and front passenger) and charging ports.
