January 29, 2020 By Rokkit

Meet the new Pajero Sport with its distinctive, energetic and striking styling. Without a doubt, this vehicle makes an intrepid statement that any terrain will be conquered while you and your passengers sit in luxury. The Pajero SUVThe Hill Descent Control (HDC) can be initiated when you start travelling down a steep gradient more than 5% and can be set at any speed between 2-20km/h. Adjusting engine output and automatically applying the brakes to maintain the set speed, it allows you to concentrate on steering without having to manually apply the brakes. The Parejo Sport’s selectable Off Road Mode maximizes traction on unsealed surfaces. The Gravel, Mud / Snow, Sand or Rock setting can be selected to suit the various surface conditions and optimize the vehicles engine output, transmission settings and braking, for superior traction. Pajero-Sport-EngineAt its core the Pajero Sport has a 2.4L MIVEC Turbo Diesel Engine producing 430Nm but it’s the pairing with Mitsubishi’s 8-speed automatic transmission that provides the optimum balance of engine power, fuel economy and interior quietness. The 2.4L DOHC MIVEC 16 valve common rail intercooled diesel engine is super responsive. An aluminium cylinder block and lightweight materials reduce weight and with a compression ratio of 15.5:1, it is amongst the quietest and most efficient diesel engines on the market. Pajero-Sport-InteriorWith safety being the most important feature to CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn the Pajero Sport comes with no less than 7 airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchor points. All the safety features – coupled with Mitsubishi Motors’ Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction – includes the Pajero Sport’s maximum ANCAP safety rating of 5 stars, giving you the peace of mind that you’re driving one of the safest cars on (and off) the road. AIR-CON MAINTENANCE

November 27, 2019 By Rokkit

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn assisting you to keep your car’s air-con in tip-top working order…

CMH Mitsubishi - Dashboard Mitsubishi Menlyn Assisting You to keep your car’s air-con working – Now day’s air-conditioning is standard on practically all vehicles and, on a hot summer’s day, it is one of life’s great pleasures to feel a welcome breeze of ice-cold air from the vents.

How an air-con works

Indicated in the image below, an air-con operates in a closed system with a refrigerant as the working fluid. This means that the incoming hot air never actually touches the refrigerant, but is cooled indirectly by an evaporator/radiator in the airstream. Basically, the compressor is powered by the engine’s auxiliary belt and compresses the refrigerant gas that now heats up above atmospheric temperatures. The hot, compressed refrigerant is then passed through the condenser, where the excess heat is expelled and the gas condenses and passes through the fluid container. The liquid refrigerant then evaporates through the expansion valve, cooling the gas dramatically and passing through the evaporator in the climate-control system’s airstream, cooling the incoming air. The refrigerant now continues back to the compressor, where the whole process starts again. CMH Mitsubishi

What could go wrong…

Your car’s air-con should provide ice-cold relief within five minutes and it is best to evaluate the the air blowing from the vents using the back of your hand. If the air is not cold by then, immediately switch off the sir-con and get the system inspected. There are many things that can go wrong with the air-con system, including gas leaks and failure of bearings and seals, as well as blockages in the pipes or sensor failures. You can take some comfort with the fact that the last component to fail is likely to be the expensive compressor itself. A lack of lubrication is the main reason an air-con compressor fails, when the gas leaks out, so does the oil and thus lubrication qualities are lost, leading to failure. AIR-CON MAINTENANCE CMH Mitsubishi- Central dashboard AC

Vehicle air-con care…

To prevent expensive breakdowns, it is important to run your vehicle’s air-con for at least 30 minutes a week. This action lubricates the system and prevents the bearings on the compressor from corroding at the touching surfaces. To avoid air-con odours, change the pollen filter regularly, because fungus that grows on the evaporator can cause bad smells. You should also service the air-con once a year, now that the summer temperatures are settling in and it’s getting hotter. Book your Mazda in for a air-con treatment and service at CMH Mazda Menlyn service department to prevent compressor replacement. Proper air-con operation

Proper air-con operation…

When a vehicle is parked in the sun, the cabin air is usually hotter than the ambient temperature. First open all windows and switch fan speed to maximum to expel the hot air. Then close the windows and allow the air-con to do its job. When the cabin air is cooler than the ambient temperature, the process can sped up by employing the recirculation function to recycle the cabin air until the cockpit is at the desired temperature.

How To Check Your Vehicle’s Fluid Levels

October 29, 2019 By Rokkit

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn has compiled 5 basic fluid checks you can perform on your vehicle:

Incorrect fluid levels can cause breakdowns or even serious damage to a vehicle. For proper vehicle care, here’s how to monitor key vehicle fluid levels between your dealer service visits.

Checking your engine oil level

The engine must be cold and not running, look for a yellow, red, or brightly-coloured loop/hood that looks like a handle. Have a cloth/rag handy and pull the oil dipstick out of the tube. Wipe the dipstick clean with a cloth/rag and insert it fully back into its tube. Remove the dipstick and check that the oil level is between the markings indicated on the dipstick.

5 Basic Fluid Checks

Power-steering fluid

The remotely mounted translucent plastic power-steering bottle will have minimum/maximum indicators molded into it. Make sure that the power-steering fluid is always between those two levels, and not too full or too low.

5 Basic Fluid Checks

Engine/Radiator coolant

Engine needs to be cold and not running (do not open the coolant or radiator cover when the engine temperature is high/hot), locate the reservoir for the coolant recovery system. It’s usually a translucent plastic container mounted near the radiator, the reservoir will have upper (hot) and lower (cold) level markings molded into it. If the fluid is below the lower mark, add coolant up to that point, but not any higher.

Vehicle engine coolant

Brake fluid

The brake fluid reservoir is usually on top the master cylinder at the rear of the engine compartment on the driver side. Locate the translucent plastic reservoir with upper and lower level markings molded into it. If the level is near or below the lower mark, have an auto repair shop inspect the brake system for leaks or wear as soon as possible.

Vehicle brake fluid bottle

Window washer fluid

This usually has a sign that looks like a tiny water fountain. If the fluid level is low just fill the bottle with water until the fluid nears the top. Use a bug-removing washer fluid in summer.

Step-By-Step Guide To Changing A Tyre

August 21, 2019 By Rokkit

It is an unfortunate reality that puncture’s and flat tyres are not something we can plan for. Changing a flat tyre is one of those life skills that we all need to know. Here is a Step-By-Step Guide To Changing A Tyre

Guide To Changing A Tyre

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn has compiled a step by step guide on how to change a tyre:

  • Flat tyres often happen in inconvenient locations. On the road, you’ll need to find a safe spot to pull over. If possible, have the flat tyre facing the verge-side of the road, instead of the traffic side. Once safely parked, put on your hazards, put your vehicle in neutral/park and pull up the handbrake.
  • Place your emergency triangle approximately 20 meters behind your vehicle on the road.
  • Look for bricks, small rocks or logs and place them behind the other wheels, to secure the vehicle and prevent it from rolling.
  • Get your spare wheel, jack and wheel spanner from under the floor of the boot/trunk. This may vary depending on your vehicle some vehicles have the spare wheels mounted on the back or underneath of the vehicle.
  • Look for the markings or notches on the metal frame under the vehicle near the tyre that needs changing. Place the jack and proceed to raise the wheel just enough to release the weight of the vehicle. Guide To Changing A Tyre
  • Remove the hubcap and loosen the wheel nuts using the wheel spanner turning anti clockwise, don’t completely remove the wheel nuts just yet. Proceed to jack the vehicle up high enough off the ground to remove the wheel, remove the wheel nuts, carefully remove the flat wheel and place it under the vehicle in-case your jack fails.
  • Align spare wheel rim with the wheel bolts and slot into place, and put back the wheel nuts tightening the nuts in a star pattern (Don’t tighten the wheel nut next to the one you’ve just worked on, but rather the one just opposite it) to ensure even torque with your hands till they nice and snug.
  • Remove your flat wheel from under your vehicle and proceed to lower your vehicle once done remove the jack. Double check that the wheel nuts are snug with the wheel spanner once lowered.
  • Place flat wheel, jack, wheel spanner and emergency triangle into the boot/trunk. Have the flat wheel repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

Service Plan, Maintenance Plan And A Warranty

July 23, 2019 By Rokkit

The Three Main Package Plans

We know that most dealerships offer The Three Main Package Plans. What are the differences between them? The Three Main Package Plans

So, you’ve bought that car you had your eye on and you know the specs and features off by heart. You are happy with your monthly instalments and your insurance is sorted. But are you aware of the manufacturer warranty, or whether the vehicle has a service or maintenance plan?

Most cars are sold with a maintenance or service plan as standard or as an optional extra. But don’t be fooled into thinking that a standard service or maintenance plan is free. The price of these plans is usually included in the purchase price of your new car. You will, however, benefit from no additional costs involved when having your vehicle properly serviced and maintained so you can budget exactly how much your new car is going to cost every month.

So, it’s time to get clued up on what a maintenance plan, service plan and warranty is?

Maintenance Plan

A maintenance plan is basically a service plan on steroids. It comes with more benefits than a service plan and will include wear-and-tear items on your vehicle such as the gearbox, clutch, suspension and brake pads and discs, wiper blades, shock absorbers, globes and fuses, wheel bearings, replacement gas for the air-conditioning system etc. The maintenance contract simply covers any item on your car that has a wear cycle and will need to be replaced at some point during the car’s lifespan – the items not covered by a service plan.

The Three Main Package Plans

Service Plan

The name says it all! The plan covers all the costs of having your car serviced as per the stipulations of the manufacturer. This will generally include the labour and replacement cost of air, pollen, fuel and oil filters, cam belts, brake fluid, oil and gearbox oil, spark plugs and coolant. These services will have to be carried out by an authorised service centre or dealer network to guarantee that the terms of the service plan contract are met.

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn- Mitsubishi Workshop

Warranty

New vehicles carry some sort of warranty but depending on the brand they can differ. However, warranties are all restricted in terms of time and mileage. Your car’s warranty is mainly a promise by the manufacturer that the faults in manufacturing or factory defects will be repaired, or replaced, within a specific period of time. Items that are covered by the warranty include: engine, gearbox, electric components, fuel systems, audio systems and sensors. It is important to note that a warranty does not cover all items. These items not covered are tyres and brake pads, and any damage resulting from user abuse will also not be covered. Damages caused by a driver’s abuse or incorrect use could void a warranty, as well as aftermarket alterations made to the vehicle. Make sure you familiarise yourself with exactly what is covered under the warranty and for how long.

Service and maintenance plans are not all created equally, so it’s important for you to read and understand the plan you are signing up for. Familiarise yourself with what is covered and what isn’t. And remember, if you’re not sure, ask, this could help save you a lot of frustration and expenses later on.

VEHICLE WARRANTY

May 21, 2019 By Rokkit

Different Warranty Options There are a few different types of warranties one can consider when purchasing a vehicle. It’s always best to seek advice from the dealerships F&I before selecting a warranty suitable for your vehicle, this can save you time and money in the long run.
CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn has compiled a list of a few different warranty options:
  • The Basic Warranty: Otherwise known as the manufacturer’s warranty. These usually come with new cars and cover most of the components in a car that might break down during the early years through normal wear-and-tear. They do not cover tyre or battery replacemnt and you can forget about it if you misuse the car.
  • Dealership Warranty: This is a warranty not from the manufacturer but sold by the dealership. There may be specifics on dealership warranties, such as where you have to go to get your vehicle serviced or maintained, and generally if a component in your car does breakdown.
  • The Extended Warranty: These warranties extend the coverage on a vehicle for an additional period of time after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. Not all vehicle models are eligible for extended warranties; it depends entirely on the company. It is best to buy an extended warranty earlier on before your first warranty has expired, because the longer you wait and the older your vehicle becomes the more expensive the extended warranty will be.
  • Basic Warranty: This covers a reasonable list of items within your vehicle, such as suspension, electronics, steering and exhaust. It however excludes tyres and batteries.
  • Powertrain Warranty: By powertrain the mean the mechanical components of the car that makes the vehicle move. It generally includes transmission, drive shafts, axle and clutch; but if something like the engine breaks down the warranty company will not pay for a new engine.
  • Rust and Corrosion Coverage: As the term implies, this covers you in the event your vehicle gets a bad case of rust. More specifically it is unlikely the warranty company will replace anything unless the rust eats a hole through the metal. This sort of thing can also be covered through insurance.
  • Emissions Warranty: This is a completely separate warranty that covers any emissions problems you may experience up to a certain number of years/millage. This may be covered under the Basic Warranty, but not always.

VALENTINE’S DAY: A DAY OF ROMANCE

Every February 14th across the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine.
    Did you know?
  1. Red roses are considered the flower of love because the colour red stands for strong romantic feelings.
  2. Women purchase approximately 85 percent of all gifts on Valentine’s Day.
  3. 220,000 is the average number of wedding proposals on Valentine’s Day each year.
  4. More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold.
  5. Richard Cadbury produced the first box of chocolates for Valentine’s day in the late 1800.
  6. About 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged each year. This makes it the second largest seasonal card sending time of the year.
  7. Teachers will receive the most Valentine’s Day cards, followed by children, mothers, wives, sweethearts and pets.

Valentine’s Day began to be popularly celebrated around the 17th century. By the middle of the 18th, it was common for friends and lovers of all social classes to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes, and by 1900 printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology.

Getting Ready To Kick Start The New Year

January 14, 2019 By Rokkit

Okay it is January yet again, lots to organise, sort out and arrange so early in the year. Are you sending your child off to college with a car? Or driving to and from high school? Is your carpool schedule filling up? Make sure you have your vehicle bucket list completed as part of your back to school preparations in 2019.

Back-to-school is a busy time for everyone! and now is the perfect time to make sure your car is in tip top shape. Be prepared and get ready for this busy time by following these simple guidelines!

  1. Check Your Dash Board: Have you grown accustomed to a warning light? Don’t ignore it! Have it checked out sooner rather than later. Again, catching a problem early will prevent costly repairs in the future.
  2. CMH Mitsubishi- dashboard-warning-lights
    CMH Mitsubishi- dashboard-warning-lights
  3. Headlights and brake lights: Be sure your lights are functioning correctly – brake lights that are burned out are a danger to yourself and other vehicles on the road. For safety, you need to be able to see and be seen.
  4. CMH Mitsubishi- Check brake and headlights
  5. Have your brakes inspected: Worn brakes impede your ability to stop quickly making it more likely you’ll find yourself in an accident. To avoid this a professional mechanic should check your vehicle’s brakes regularly.
  6. CMH Mitsubishi- check Brakes
  7. Know Your Car: Pay attention to your car and familiarize your child with the car as well. Make sure they know where they can find the safety equipment, spare tire and owner’s manual.
  8. CHM Mitsubishi- know your car
  9. Top up all fluids. Yes, that means performing regular oil changes. But it also means checking on all the other fluids your car needs — transmission, brakes, coolants and more. Clean fluids help your engine run smoothly, while dirty fluids can cause damage
  10. CHM Mitsubishi- top up fluid levels

Celebrating Heritage Day at CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn

October 15, 2017 By Rokkit

Heritage is a deceptively simple idea. It can be considered to be made up of the practices and traditions that are passed on from parents to children, but it also has to do with what has been passed on from the family, community and place where people have been raised. We are blessed to be living in a country with many colourful cultures, so we decided that we will celebrate Heritage Day at our dealership & what a great day it was. At CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn, we always aim to keep our clients happy at all times and working as a team, having fun and how better way to do that than having a day where we can all be our true self and sharing it with our colleagues. We used this day to demonstrate our culture by getting dressed up as our forefathers, ancestors and tradition. Sankie Nyembe won the award for best dressed. She showed off her love for her Zulu culture by wearing her traditional Zulu skirt and beads. In accepting her prize, she gave us a great speech on the Zulu heritage and how her culture is embraced. Here at CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn we truly believe in our Heritage and Culture. Visit our dealership at Corner January Masilela Dr & Garsfontein Rd, Menlyn, Pretoria. Contact number: 012 369 9800

Refreshed Mitsubishi ASX Offers Bold New Look, More Value For Money

February 23, 2017 By Rokkit

New Mitsubishi ASX [ngg_images source=”galleries” container_ids=”7″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_pro_thumbnail_grid” override_thumbnail_settings=”1″ thumbnail_width=”150″ thumbnail_height=”100″ thumbnail_crop=”1″ images_per_page=”20″ border_size=”0″ border_color=”#eeeeee” spacing=”2″ number_of_columns=”4″ ngg_triggers_display=”always” captions_enabled=”0″ captions_display_sharing=”1″ captions_display_title=”1″ captions_display_description=”1″ captions_animation=”slideup” order_by=”sortorder” order_direction=”ASC” returns=”included” maximum_entity_count=”500″]Mitsubishi’s ASX introduces new design language and superb value for money. Mitsubishi’s popular compact crossover, the Mitsubishi ASX, is getting a refreshed look for the 2017 model year. In addition to the company’s new design language, dubbed Dynamic Shield design, the Mitsubishi ASX range now includes a new 2.0 MIVEC six-speed CVT derivative coming in at under R400 000 and representing unmatched value for money. Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa, states: “We have to address the current affordability needs of our customers. Today’s economy often forces buyers to opt for lower-spec vehicles, but our new ASX 2.0 GL CVT derivative offers the comfort and efficiency of Mitsubishi’s CVT transmission as well as its impressive standard specification in a truly attractive package. When you consider Mitsubishi’s world-class safety ratings, the new ASX 2.0 GL CVT is easily the best sub R400 000 vehicle on the market.”

A Fresh New Dynamic Shield Design

The new 2017 Mitsubishi ASX, which goes on sale immediately, is the first model in South Africa to feature the company’s new Dynamic Shield design language. The striking new design is centred around a new front grille, which is significantly more prominent than that of its predecessor and will soon be seen on other models, such as the new Mitsubishi Outlander and the much anticipated new Pajero Sport. Mitsubishi is using the introduction of its new design language to effect other, smaller tweaks, while the popular items and high specification level remain unchanged. Changes to the new ASX include redesigned seat cushions that are fashioned with long-distance passenger comfort as the main priority.

The New Line-Up

The new Mitsubishi ASX line-up consists of five derivatives all featuring the frugal and highly reliable 2.0 MIVEC petrol engine. This engine is equipped with Mitsubishi’s Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control System (MIVEC) and multi-point injection that produces 110 kW at 6 000 rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 4 200 rpm. Power is delivered to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or CVT transmission with six pre-programmed gear steps. The 2.0 MIVEC engine is well known for being very fuel efficient, with an average fuel consumption of 7.5 litres / 100 km for the manual models and 7.6 litres for the CVT equipped versions. Fitted with a 63 litre tank, this gives the ASX a range of around 800 km. Mitsubishi’s popular CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) offers drivers the smooth comfort of an automatic gearbox, but with fuel efficiency similar to a manual vehicle. In short: a CVT transmission is designed to be more sensitive than a standard automatic gearbox and optimises engine output to deliver the best possible fuel consumption under all driving conditions. The ASX is one of the safest vehicles in its class and boasts a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. All ASX models feature Mitsubishi’s proprietary Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body shell, no less than seven airbags, ISOFIX child restraint mountings and a range of dynamic safety systems that include ABS, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assistance (BAS). In the new 2.0 ASX GL CVT, this means unsurpassed value for a price tag under R400 000. In addition to the above-mentioned specification, the Mitsubishi GLS derivatives feature LED running lights, electronic active stability and traction control (ASTC) and hill start assist (HSA) as standard. Luxury features abound in the ASX, including Bluetooth with voice control, cruise control, a multi-function steering wheel, electric windows, air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, rear park distance control and automatic lights as standard on all models. GLX and GLS derivatives also offer a full-length panoramic glass roof, keyless operation, a full-colour touch-screen infotainment system, heated leather seats in the front, and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, as well as a rear-view camera. Over and above all these luxuries, two GLS derivatives feature powerful Rockford Fosgate sound systems, whilst the CVT version of the GLS boasts high-impact discharge lights. The Mitsubishi ASX continues to score highly as a practical crossover, thanks to its 1,193 litres of storage space with the rear seats lowered and its 195mm ground clearance. ASX is sold with a comprehensive 5-year / 90 000 km service plan and 3-year / 100 000 km manufacturer’s warranty. Campbell concludes: “We are extremely proud of our 92% customer loyalty figure – once people join the Mitsubishi family, they tend to stay. This says more about our brand, our products and our excellent dealer network than we could ever convey in a brochure.” Pricing: 2.0 MIVEC GL 5-speed M/T – R364,900 2.0 MIVEC GL 6-speed CVT – R399,900 2.0 MIVEC GLX 5-speed M/T – R399,900 2.0 MIVEC GLS 5-speed M/T RF – R414,900 2.0 MIVEC GLS 6-speed CVT RF – R434,900
