ALL-NEW MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE CROSS FACELIFT

August 6, 2021 By Rokkit

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn needs you to come and view the stunning new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Facelift.

The redesigned 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Facelift has comfortable seats and some easy-to-use tech features.

Standard features:

  • Forward Collision Mitigation with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Automatic High Beam

It is all about safety.

Multi-view camera system

This available feature uses multiple cameras around the vehicle to create a composite, bird’s-eye view of your Eclipse Cross, in addition to a wide-angle view, helping to show what’s directly behind you. Parking just got a whole lot easier.

Reverse Camera

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

This available system detects a vehicle approaching from either side while you’re backing up. The warning lights on both side mirrors will blink, a buzzer will sound to alert you, and a warning message will appear on the information screen of the multi-information colour display.

Steering Wheel

Adaptive Cruise Control

Available Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) uses radar technology to judge distances between you and the vehicle ahead, helping you maintain a safe driving distance. If the car moves out of your lane or goes beyond your set speed, the system will resume your set speed.

RISE Body Construction

Mitsubishi’s advanced Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body utilizes crumple zones that help buffer your vehicle during high-impact collisions. Strategic reinforcements at key body points complement its side-impact door beams, giving your Eclipse Cross a stable, secure base that’s worth its weight in safety.

Rain-sensing wipers

Keep your hands on the wheel during inclement weather with rain-sensing windshield wipers. Activating at the first drop of rain, the wipers adjust to match the frequency of rainfall so you can continue to focus on what’s ahead.

Blind Spot Warnings and Lane Change Assist

This available system alerts you when a vehicle is in or approaching your blind spot. When a vehicle is travelling at the same speed or faster in the detection areas, a warning light illuminates the corresponding side mirror.

Mitsubishi ASX – Subcompact Urban SUV

September 11, 2020 By Rokkit

Mitsubishi ASX – Subcompact Urban SUV - Mitsubishi ASX Front View Apart from the more common Mitsubishi Pajero we all know and love, the Mitsubishi ASX is slowly become a household name. Launched in 2010, the ASX is a mere decade old and still has a lot to offer. It has been through three changes with the latest one being launched this current year. Let’s see how far along the ASX has come and what we can expect later from this compact SUV. When the ASX was launched in 2010, it was designed to follow in the footsteps of its much larger sibling, the Mitsubishi outlander. The vehicle was meant to be compact and an affordable option for a small family looking for a vehicle that could cater to their everyday needs, and at the same time be multifunctional. The ASX is a multiple purpose vehicle that eliminates the need to have more than one vehicle. The ASX came out in a period of time when “Compact” SUV’s (not to be confused with crossovers) started to put a foot hold in the compact SUV space. At that time, if you wanted a spacious vehicle for the family your options were either a grand sedan or you had to make due with a trailer. The compact SUV segment has offered something very different and unique in the automotive space. Think about it this way. If you buy land and want more real estate, you build up. If you apply the same formula to a motor vehicle and want to keep the dimension relatively compact but want to offer more “real estate”, take what already exist and jack it up. In the case of the Mitsubishi ASX, It was done inversely but still achieved the same result. The ASX keeps improving and gets better as time goes by. Its innovative technology gets refined and carried over into the next generation giving it a touch of heritage and stays true its humble beginnings. Mitsubishi ASX – Subcompact Urban SUV - Mitsubishi ASX 3   The 2017 Mitsubishi ASX Dimensions are as follows. Height – 1625mm Width – 1770mm Length – 4295mm Ground clearance – 195mm Wheelbase – 2670mm The 2020 Mitsubishi ASX Dimensions are as follows. Height – 1640mm Width – 1810mm Length – 4365mm Ground clearance – 205mm Wheelbase – 2670mm Mitsubishi ASX – Subcompact Urban SUV - Mitsubishi ASX 5 The Mitsubishi ASX has surely grown up with a slight increase in its dimensions all except for the wheelbase which still remains the same.   The ASX comes well equipped with features that are optional on its German Competitors. The ASX offers great value for money in its segment. The ASX 2.0 GLS come standard equipped with a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, multifunction steering wheel with audio controls, automatic windows all around for driver and all passengers, a reverse camera, infotainment system, electrical adjustable driver’s seat, and many more features. Mitsubishi ASX – Subcompact Urban SUV   The ASX is offered with one powertrain either in Manual or Automatic. The engine delivers 110kw of power enough to cruise on the highway with ease. Its light steering is great for driving around town and its high ground clearance can help you tackle city obstacles with ease. Rear parking sensors are fitted to the rear of the car to help navigate your way through tight parking spaces, insuring you do not scratch the beautiful paint off your car. Mitsubishi ASX – Subcompact Urban SUV - Mitsubishi ASX 5     If there is anything you can take away, it’s that the Mitsubishi ASX is a great compact SUV offering a lot of value for the money. If anything, it is almost a steel for what you can get it for. This one featured is a 2017 model full house going for an asking price of less than R230,000 with 84,000km on the mileage. A brand new model will set you back for around R5,050pm with 0 deposit. AIR-CON MAINTENANCE

November 27, 2019 By Rokkit

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn assisting you to keep your car’s air-con in tip-top working order…

CMH Mitsubishi - Dashboard Mitsubishi Menlyn Assisting You to keep your car’s air-con working – Now day’s air-conditioning is standard on practically all vehicles and, on a hot summer’s day, it is one of life’s great pleasures to feel a welcome breeze of ice-cold air from the vents.

How an air-con works

Indicated in the image below, an air-con operates in a closed system with a refrigerant as the working fluid. This means that the incoming hot air never actually touches the refrigerant, but is cooled indirectly by an evaporator/radiator in the airstream. Basically, the compressor is powered by the engine’s auxiliary belt and compresses the refrigerant gas that now heats up above atmospheric temperatures. The hot, compressed refrigerant is then passed through the condenser, where the excess heat is expelled and the gas condenses and passes through the fluid container. The liquid refrigerant then evaporates through the expansion valve, cooling the gas dramatically and passing through the evaporator in the climate-control system’s airstream, cooling the incoming air. The refrigerant now continues back to the compressor, where the whole process starts again. CMH Mitsubishi

What could go wrong…

Your car’s air-con should provide ice-cold relief within five minutes and it is best to evaluate the the air blowing from the vents using the back of your hand. If the air is not cold by then, immediately switch off the sir-con and get the system inspected. There are many things that can go wrong with the air-con system, including gas leaks and failure of bearings and seals, as well as blockages in the pipes or sensor failures. You can take some comfort with the fact that the last component to fail is likely to be the expensive compressor itself. A lack of lubrication is the main reason an air-con compressor fails, when the gas leaks out, so does the oil and thus lubrication qualities are lost, leading to failure. AIR-CON MAINTENANCE CMH Mitsubishi- Central dashboard AC

Vehicle air-con care…

To prevent expensive breakdowns, it is important to run your vehicle’s air-con for at least 30 minutes a week. This action lubricates the system and prevents the bearings on the compressor from corroding at the touching surfaces. To avoid air-con odours, change the pollen filter regularly, because fungus that grows on the evaporator can cause bad smells. You should also service the air-con once a year, now that the summer temperatures are settling in and it’s getting hotter. Book your Mazda in for a air-con treatment and service at CMH Mazda Menlyn service department to prevent compressor replacement. Proper air-con operation

Proper air-con operation…

When a vehicle is parked in the sun, the cabin air is usually hotter than the ambient temperature. First open all windows and switch fan speed to maximum to expel the hot air. Then close the windows and allow the air-con to do its job. When the cabin air is cooler than the ambient temperature, the process can sped up by employing the recirculation function to recycle the cabin air until the cockpit is at the desired temperature.

How To Check Your Vehicle’s Fluid Levels

October 29, 2019 By Rokkit

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn has compiled 5 basic fluid checks you can perform on your vehicle:

Incorrect fluid levels can cause breakdowns or even serious damage to a vehicle. For proper vehicle care, here’s how to monitor key vehicle fluid levels between your dealer service visits.

Checking your engine oil level

The engine must be cold and not running, look for a yellow, red, or brightly-coloured loop/hood that looks like a handle. Have a cloth/rag handy and pull the oil dipstick out of the tube. Wipe the dipstick clean with a cloth/rag and insert it fully back into its tube. Remove the dipstick and check that the oil level is between the markings indicated on the dipstick.

5 Basic Fluid Checks

Power-steering fluid

The remotely mounted translucent plastic power-steering bottle will have minimum/maximum indicators molded into it. Make sure that the power-steering fluid is always between those two levels, and not too full or too low.

5 Basic Fluid Checks

Engine/Radiator coolant

Engine needs to be cold and not running (do not open the coolant or radiator cover when the engine temperature is high/hot), locate the reservoir for the coolant recovery system. It’s usually a translucent plastic container mounted near the radiator, the reservoir will have upper (hot) and lower (cold) level markings molded into it. If the fluid is below the lower mark, add coolant up to that point, but not any higher.

Vehicle engine coolant

Brake fluid

The brake fluid reservoir is usually on top the master cylinder at the rear of the engine compartment on the driver side. Locate the translucent plastic reservoir with upper and lower level markings molded into it. If the level is near or below the lower mark, have an auto repair shop inspect the brake system for leaks or wear as soon as possible.

Vehicle brake fluid bottle

Window washer fluid

Step-By-Step Guide To Changing A Tyre

August 21, 2019 By Rokkit

It is an unfortunate reality that puncture’s and flat tyres are not something we can plan for. Changing a flat tyre is one of those life skills that we all need to know. Here is a Step-By-Step Guide To Changing A Tyre

Guide To Changing A Tyre

CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn has compiled a step by step guide on how to change a tyre:

  • Flat tyres often happen in inconvenient locations. On the road, you’ll need to find a safe spot to pull over. If possible, have the flat tyre facing the verge-side of the road, instead of the traffic side. Once safely parked, put on your hazards, put your vehicle in neutral/park and pull up the handbrake.
  • Place your emergency triangle approximately 20 meters behind your vehicle on the road.
  • Look for bricks, small rocks or logs and place them behind the other wheels, to secure the vehicle and prevent it from rolling.
  • Get your spare wheel, jack and wheel spanner from under the floor of the boot/trunk. This may vary depending on your vehicle some vehicles have the spare wheels mounted on the back or underneath of the vehicle.
  • Look for the markings or notches on the metal frame under the vehicle near the tyre that needs changing. Place the jack and proceed to raise the wheel just enough to release the weight of the vehicle. Guide To Changing A Tyre
  • Remove the hubcap and loosen the wheel nuts using the wheel spanner turning anti clockwise, don’t completely remove the wheel nuts just yet. Proceed to jack the vehicle up high enough off the ground to remove the wheel, remove the wheel nuts, carefully remove the flat wheel and place it under the vehicle in-case your jack fails.
  • Align spare wheel rim with the wheel bolts and slot into place, and put back the wheel nuts tightening the nuts in a star pattern (Don’t tighten the wheel nut next to the one you’ve just worked on, but rather the one just opposite it) to ensure even torque with your hands till they nice and snug.
  • Remove your flat wheel from under your vehicle and proceed to lower your vehicle once done remove the jack. Double check that the wheel nuts are snug with the wheel spanner once lowered.
  • Place flat wheel, jack, wheel spanner and emergency triangle into the boot/trunk. Have the flat wheel repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

Service Plan, Maintenance Plan And A Warranty

July 23, 2019 By Rokkit

The Three Main Package Plans

We know that most dealerships offer The Three Main Package Plans. What are the differences between them? The Three Main Package Plans

So, you’ve bought that car you had your eye on and you know the specs and features off by heart. You are happy with your monthly instalments and your insurance is sorted. But are you aware of the manufacturer warranty, or whether the vehicle has a service or maintenance plan?

Most cars are sold with a maintenance or service plan as standard or as an optional extra. But don’t be fooled into thinking that a standard service or maintenance plan is free. The price of these plans is usually included in the purchase price of your new car. You will, however, benefit from no additional costs involved when having your vehicle properly serviced and maintained so you can budget exactly how much your new car is going to cost every month.

So, it’s time to get clued up on what a maintenance plan, service plan and warranty is?

Maintenance Plan

A maintenance plan is basically a service plan on steroids. It comes with more benefits than a service plan and will include wear-and-tear items on your vehicle such as the gearbox, clutch, suspension and brake pads and discs, wiper blades, shock absorbers, globes and fuses, wheel bearings, replacement gas for the air-conditioning system etc. The maintenance contract simply covers any item on your car that has a wear cycle and will need to be replaced at some point during the car’s lifespan – the items not covered by a service plan.

The Three Main Package Plans

Service Plan

The name says it all! The plan covers all the costs of having your car serviced as per the stipulations of the manufacturer. This will generally include the labour and replacement cost of air, pollen, fuel and oil filters, cam belts, brake fluid, oil and gearbox oil, spark plugs and coolant. These services will have to be carried out by an authorised service centre or dealer network to guarantee that the terms of the service plan contract are met.

Warranty

New vehicles carry some sort of warranty but depending on the brand they can differ. However, warranties are all restricted in terms of time and mileage. Your car’s warranty is mainly a promise by the manufacturer that the faults in manufacturing or factory defects will be repaired, or replaced, within a specific period of time. Items that are covered by the warranty include: engine, gearbox, electric components, fuel systems, audio systems and sensors. It is important to note that a warranty does not cover all items. These items not covered are tyres and brake pads, and any damage resulting from user abuse will also not be covered. Damages caused by a driver’s abuse or incorrect use could void a warranty, as well as aftermarket alterations made to the vehicle. Make sure you familiarise yourself with exactly what is covered under the warranty and for how long.

Service and maintenance plans are not all created equally, so it’s important for you to read and understand the plan you are signing up for. Familiarise yourself with what is covered and what isn’t. And remember, if you’re not sure, ask, this could help save you a lot of frustration and expenses later on.

VEHICLE WARRANTY

May 21, 2019 By Rokkit

Different Warranty Options There are a few different types of warranties one can consider when purchasing a vehicle. It’s always best to seek advice from the dealerships F&I before selecting a warranty suitable for your vehicle, this can save you time and money in the long run.
CMH Mitsubishi Menlyn has compiled a list of a few different warranty options:
  • The Basic Warranty: Otherwise known as the manufacturer’s warranty. These usually come with new cars and cover most of the components in a car that might break down during the early years through normal wear-and-tear. They do not cover tyre or battery replacemnt and you can forget about it if you misuse the car.
  • Dealership Warranty: This is a warranty not from the manufacturer but sold by the dealership. There may be specifics on dealership warranties, such as where you have to go to get your vehicle serviced or maintained, and generally if a component in your car does breakdown.
  • The Extended Warranty: These warranties extend the coverage on a vehicle for an additional period of time after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. Not all vehicle models are eligible for extended warranties; it depends entirely on the company. It is best to buy an extended warranty earlier on before your first warranty has expired, because the longer you wait and the older your vehicle becomes the more expensive the extended warranty will be.
  • Basic Warranty: This covers a reasonable list of items within your vehicle, such as suspension, electronics, steering and exhaust. It however excludes tyres and batteries.
  • Powertrain Warranty: By powertrain the mean the mechanical components of the car that makes the vehicle move. It generally includes transmission, drive shafts, axle and clutch; but if something like the engine breaks down the warranty company will not pay for a new engine.
  • Rust and Corrosion Coverage: As the term implies, this covers you in the event your vehicle gets a bad case of rust. More specifically it is unlikely the warranty company will replace anything unless the rust eats a hole through the metal. This sort of thing can also be covered through insurance.
  • Emissions Warranty: This is a completely separate warranty that covers any emissions problems you may experience up to a certain number of years/millage. This may be covered under the Basic Warranty, but not always.
