A Fresh New Dynamic Shield Design

The new 2017 Mitsubishi ASX, which goes on sale immediately, is the first model in South Africa to feature the company’s new Dynamic Shield design language. The striking new design is centred around a new front grille, which is significantly more prominent than that of its predecessor and will soon be seen on other models, such as the new Mitsubishi Outlander and the much anticipated new Pajero Sport. Mitsubishi is using the introduction of its new design language to effect other, smaller tweaks, while the popular items and high specification level remain unchanged. Changes to the new ASX include redesigned seat cushions that are fashioned with long-distance passenger comfort as the main priority.

The New Line-Up

The new Mitsubishi ASX line-up consists of five derivatives all featuring the frugal and highly reliable 2.0 MIVEC petrol engine. This engine is equipped with Mitsubishi’s Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control System (MIVEC) and multi-point injection that produces 110 kW at 6 000 rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 4 200 rpm. Power is delivered to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or CVT transmission with six pre-programmed gear steps. The 2.0 MIVEC engine is well known for being very fuel efficient, with an average fuel consumption of 7.5 litres / 100 km for the manual models and 7.6 litres for the CVT equipped versions. Fitted with a 63 litre tank, this gives the ASX a range of around 800 km. Mitsubishi’s popular CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) offers drivers the smooth comfort of an automatic gearbox, but with fuel efficiency similar to a manual vehicle. In short: a CVT transmission is designed to be more sensitive than a standard automatic gearbox and optimises engine output to deliver the best possible fuel consumption under all driving conditions. The ASX is one of the safest vehicles in its class and boasts a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. All ASX models feature Mitsubishi’s proprietary Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body shell, no less than seven airbags, ISOFIX child restraint mountings and a range of dynamic safety systems that include ABS, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assistance (BAS). In the new 2.0 ASX GL CVT, this means unsurpassed value for a price tag under R400 000. In addition to the above-mentioned specification, the Mitsubishi GLS derivatives feature LED running lights, electronic active stability and traction control (ASTC) and hill start assist (HSA) as standard. Luxury features abound in the ASX, including Bluetooth with voice control, cruise control, a multi-function steering wheel, electric windows, air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, rear park distance control and automatic lights as standard on all models. GLX and GLS derivatives also offer a full-length panoramic glass roof, keyless operation, a full-colour touch-screen infotainment system, heated leather seats in the front, and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, as well as a rear-view camera. Over and above all these luxuries, two GLS derivatives feature powerful Rockford Fosgate sound systems, whilst the CVT version of the GLS boasts high-impact discharge lights. The Mitsubishi ASX continues to score highly as a practical crossover, thanks to its 1,193 litres of storage space with the rear seats lowered and its 195mm ground clearance. ASX is sold with a comprehensive 5-year / 90 000 km service plan and 3-year / 100 000 km manufacturer’s warranty. It is distinct from team training, to improve the efficiency, rather than interpersonal relations. The purpose of Team buildings is to bind the group, so that they get to know each other and begin having a sense of TEAM. It is at this stage that team buildings activities will help bind them and to align them to their shared purpose, goals and targets. On the 5th November 2016, Mitsubishi Hatfield After Sales Staff with their Managers went to Bounce Menlyn Maine as part of their Team Building. ‘Well, it was the most fun we’ve had in a long time’, said one of the Workshop Staff. One of our drivers further said he didn’t think or realised that trampolining is fun no matter how old you are and that it actually makes you feel younger and proved to themselves how strong they are! Their Staff were super-friendly, helpful and efficient which added to it being a perfect day out. And to wrap the day up, the Volvo Staff went for lunch and drinks at Oppiplaas Restaurant in Waverly where they dined, chat and got to know each other more and good friendships were made and everyone got to understand the purpose of a Team Building and how important it is for a company.

An exciting new era for the Mitsubishi Triton begins in early 2017 with the announcement that the new Triton SU will make its local debut in February 2017. This is good news for Mitsubishi Triton fans as the current version of the popular pickup has done duty since 2007, and with Ford and Toyota introducing all-new versions of Ranger and Hilux respectively, the updates for the Triton are particularly timely.

Lightweight And Responsive Power

Among the array of timely updates, Triton SU, or Sport Utility, will establish a new benchmark in engine performance with Mitsubishi’s latest-generation 2.4-litre 4-cylinder DOHC MIVEC 16-valve turbocharged common rail diesel engine. This powerful new engine features an aluminium cylinder block to save weight and can be paired with Mitsubishi’s latest 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic gearbox.

New 2.4-litre produces 133kW and 430Nm
This all-new super responsive 2.4-litre engine with a class-leading low compression ratio of 15.5:1 is supplemented by a variable geometry turbocharger as well as Mitsubishi’s proprietary engine mapping. Peak power outperforms similar-sized engines with 133 kW and 430 Nm, with more than 350 Nm available from 1 500 rpm. This combination provides a substantial improvement in low-end torque of over 25% compared to the previous 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine which was fitted to the outgoing Triton range. “Our new lightweight turbo diesel engine is fitted with Mitsubishi’s latest generation MIVEC technology and weighs 30kg less than its predecessor, resulting in improved responsiveness, fuel consumption, handling, cornering and braking performance,” says Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa. Mitsubishi’s state-of-the-art four-wheel drive system, Super Select II 4WD, has been improved upon and offers four intelligent driving modes which can be engaged via the electronic selector in the cabin. This multifunction setup gives drivers precise control in challenging weather conditions or on loose surfaces with low-range models, including a rear diff-lock, essential for tackling tough and technical off-road obstacles.

New Triton’s interior has also been improved upon and promises to be as close to a passenger car as ever with SUV-like levels of space and comfort. Mitsubishi claims class-leading levels of head and legroom. Safety is also well catered for with Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction. Safety highlights include pretension seatbelts, airbags, active stability and traction control with ABS and EBD. Mitsubishi Triton SU “International reports have already found the Triton SU to be the most car-like pick-up to drive. Fitted with a new-generation lightweight diesel engine, upgraded suspension and reduced NVH levels, this new sport utility will impress owners with a comfortable ride that hasn’t compromised those workhorse principles and multi-purpose functionality,” says Campbell.

Roodeplaat Dam Music & Fun Festival – CMH Mitsubishi Hatfield

This was a weekend full of fun with family. We were joined by tourists from Johannesburg, Pretoria and surrounding areas for a little weekend of fun and entertainment. We were also joined by some of South Africa’s biggest music entertainment, just next to the Roodeplaat Dam in Pretoria. The Festival hopes to attract around 6 000 people over a 3 day period and offers a star studded line up to keep all guests entertained each day and oh boy everyone enjoyed, young and old were invited to participate with activities for the kids and excellent entertainment for the Adults from fantastic music to helicopter flips. Kids were out to play, 40 Double entrance tickets were given away to first 40 people to arrive at the event. 20 double tickets for Saturday the 28th & 20 for Sunday the 29th. There were plenty of food and drink stalls with delicious mouth-watering food for the hungry! The aim was to create a music festival that was both entertaining and culturally diverse. There was music for everyone’s taste and camping facilities were available! Our vehicles were out for display and it was a chance for all our clients and customers to come and meet our team in person, they were all there to assist with all the enquiries and helped everyone learn more about Mitsubishi Vehicles, the models and the benefit of driving in our luxury cars.
