The 1KD-FTV 3.0 D-4D engine was especially highly regarded, with many examples racking up huge mileage with very few problems at all (while being properly maintained, of course). This powerplant also handled 500 ppm sulphur content diesel somewhat better than Toyota’s more modern GD-6 engines that succeeded it.
